BIO: Don't you just love it here? Thank you Kitten for bringing this, and all of us together. I'm originally from PA but I escaped in 1994, at the age of 40 to northern Louisiana. Since then I met the love of my life and best friend. We've lived on 4 different houseboats which we rebuilt and then resold, built our little dream house with our own hands, cared for my sweet MIL, traveled to Jost Van Dyke in the BVI's (Mom even went once) and finally retired here in the middle of the woods. We live with our furbabies... BeeGee the once feral cat, sweet Sam and CiCi the calico cat. We love all animals and feed the birds, deer, squirrels and whoever shows up at our feeders. I would describe my cooking as down home, old fashion comfort food.

Feather Bread BM Bread and Buns Re: Feather Bread BM Bread and Buns This is an excellent everyday bread, Gerry. I made it start to finish in the bread machine and followed the recipe and your recommendations to the letter. I love the simplicity of the recipe and the soft texture of the bread. I'll be using this recipe often.
Linda's Perfect Standing Rib Roast Re: Linda's Standing Rib Roast Bravo Linda! My husband and I both agree, this is the best beef roast I've ever made. The star of this recipe is the meat, which wasn't masked by spices or heavy sauces. The gravy was rich with flavor. My roast was 4 pounds and it cooked to a perfect medium rare at 1 hour and 50 minutes. Thank you our new Thanksgiving tradition.
Apple Cinnamon Cream Cheese Cake Re: Apple Cinnamon Cream Cheese Cake I made this for a large gathering and everyone raved. I just got a taste and know that when I make it for myself, I'll cut back the sugar some, but that's just personal preference. I went armed with about 10 copies and handed them all out! Thanks for making me look good...again, Kitten.
Kittencal's Marinara Sauce Re: Kittencal's Marinara Sauce I was so excited to find this recipe! This isn't a light marinara but a thick sauce that's rich in flavor and depth. I made this to freeze in single servings just for me. I pureed half of the recipe to make it more versatile. So far, I've used it over spaghetti squash and to make a tortilla pizza. I could eat anything tomato based every night but DH doesn't share my passion, so this sauce will be a staple in my freezer. A ten star recipe in my book Kitten! Thank you for posting.
Papa D's Lasagna Re: Papa D's Lasagna I love this lasagna recipe for so many reasons. First and foremost it tastes heavenly. It's easy to put together, with ingredients I usually have on hand. It cost me much less than many other recipes I've tried. I used parmesan cheese from the green can and it worked for me. The only other change I made was to use 1 1/2 cans of beef broth. Thank you so much for posting Papa_D, you even got my DH liking lasagna! Now that's saying something!
