"Whipped cream is not really an acceptable substitute in this recipe, sadly I know for a fact that it won’t hold up in the refrigerator for long. Name brand makes a difference here, use Cool Whip for best flavor and texture -- The following are some flavor variations you can try: Nutella: 1/4 cup nutella + prepared chocolate pudding -- Peanut Butter: 1/4 cup peanut butter + prepared vanilla pudding -- Cookies and Cream: 1 cup crushed Oreos + prepared white chocolate pudding -- Salted Caramel: substitute 1/4 cup caramel sundae sauce for 1/4 cup milk + 1/2 tbsp sea salt + vanilla pudding"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Whisk together the pudding mix and the milk in a large bowl just until it begins to thicken.
Step 2
Immediately whisk in half of the cool whip. This needs to be done quickly to avoid lumps, and I suggest only doing half of the cool whip so that it's manageable to mix in quickly.
Step 3
Fold in the remaining cool whip with a rubber spatula.
Step 4
Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator covered. Add toppings as desired.
