"This is an iconic salad; from the famous Cuban/Spanish restaurant, 'The Columbia,' with locations in FL. The salad is not difficult; but, it is just the right combinations of ingredients that makes this so good. It is always tossed table side; and, it is just a delicious salad. Serve with baked crusty Cuban bread; and a couple glasses of sangria. Now, a couple of notes ... this was always served in a cold wooden bowl; and, the lettuce was icy cold, fresh, and crisp. All the ingredients were the best; which is made this the best salad. And follow how it is mixed; for some reason ... it just works. I do like to make the dressing the day before if possible - it only gets better."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Notes: A couple of notes for the recipe ... There are a few differences online, as to the classic or 'authentic' recipe. But, this is one I got from one of the waiters; and, from their own web site. As for the celery - it is optional. A few years ago, they added celery; but, now they do not. So, you can add it or not. As for the worcestershire sauce - Some recipes call for 1-2 teaspoons; some, even 2 tablespoons. But, the original recipe calls for 1 tablespoon. And the cheese - again, many recipes call for 2 teaspoons, 2 tablespoons; but, it is really 1/4 cup.
Step 2
Dressing ... Add all the ingredients to a small bowl and whisk. Personally, I just add everything to a small mason jar or tupperware container and shake, until everything is combined. This is best if made the day before - it only gets better.
Step 3
Salad Step I ... Add the torn, not cut - cold crisp lettuce to a cold bowl; along with the ham, swiss cheese, and tomato.
Step 4
Salad Step II ... Pour the dressing over the top, then squeeze both lemon halves; and, next the worcestershire sauce. Now, toss the salad until it is combined.
Step 5
Salad Step III ... Add the cheese, toss and serve.
Step 6
Serve and ENJOY! ... As I said, crusty Cuban bread is perfect with this. It will make 2 large salads; or, 4 small side salads. Enjoy this absolutely delicious salad.
