"One of my favorites, and so easy. Simply mix a big batch and keep it in your pantry. There are so many rubs out there ... but, this is a basic rub I use often. As you can see, thyme and brown sugar are both optional - it, is really up to you. The sugar will give you a bit sweeter blend; and the thyme a bit more savory. Both work great with this basic blend; it just depends on what you enjoy. Make sure to experiment, and come up with your favorite blend."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Rub ... Mix everything in a small bowl and transfer to a spice jar, or small tupperware container. I love using a small mason jar as well. They work great. Will last for 3 months. This recipe can easily be doubled (I always double mine); as I use them for ribs and my smoked pork butt. Note: the thyme and brown sugar are optional; if added, they added a bit of a different type of rub - but, equally as good.

Step 2

Use on your favorite proteins to be BBQ'd or grilled. ENJOY!

I used everything except for the smoked paprika, personal preference. I added the brown sugar to it for a sweeter taste and used it on country style ribs. We loved the flavor and I will experiment with it on other meats and poultry.
