Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F

Step 2

In a large saucepan heat the butter, then add in onions. Cook until softened, 8 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in flour until combined.

Step 4

Add wine, milk, garlic powder and parsley, bring to a boil. Simmer until thick, stirring constantly.

Step 5

Stir in cream cheese until smooth.

Step 6

Mix in cooked bacon.

Step 7

Season mixture with salt, pepper and nutmeg (as much salt and pepper as you like).

Step 8

Add in sliced potatoes and let them cook for about 8 minutes, then reduce heat to low, let simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 9

Transfer everything in a large casserole dish.

Step 10

Top with shredded cheese.

Step 11

Bake for 30-35 minutes (check if potatoes are fork-tender but not to soft, the cooking time will vary, it will depend on how thick that you sliced the potatoes).

Combined all the flavours I love potato, onion and cheese, I scaled back for 3 serves and still ended up with a serve for left overs which will not go to waste, lunch tomorrow, absolutely delicious, thank you HoneyBell, made for Alphabet Soup tag game.
