"Darlene Kossman said this was a cheap cake to serve at camp, really old recipe she also used this as fruicake at Christmas and will keep awhile. There where no times or temps given so I'm guessing it has gumdrops in it"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Boil together: raisins, lard, applesauce, and 1 cup water. Add sugar, cold water and dry ingredients to hot mixture, mixing well.

Step 2

Stir in the rest of ingredients.

Step 3

Pour into a buttered cake pan.

Step 4

Bake at 325 degrees for 90 minutes or until done.

Step 5

May be served with whipped cream or white (hard) sauce.
