"This is an outstanding Ponzu sauce - once you make this once, you'll never go back to bottled. The recipe was originally posted by my friend Pammy on another website, and is being carried forward in her memory."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Zest your orange - now juice it. You need ¼ cup; make a screwdriver with the rest.

Step 2

Put orange juice, zest, sake, sugar, soy sauce, lime juice, and cayenne into a saucepan. Bring to a boil, turn down heat to a simmer, and reduce sauce by half for about 3 minutes.

OPTIONAL STEP

Step 3

Mix together the water and corn starch, add to the simmering sauce, and stir until thickened. I DON'T THICKEN IT, I LIKE IT RUNNIER! If skipping, go to next step.

Step 4

Add the sesame oil and stir to combine.

Step 5

It's done! There, that was easy, wasn't it? Now taste it - Oh wow! Start imagining what you'll be able to do with this stuff.

This is a delicious version of Ponzu Sauce. It was quick and really easy to make with terrific results. The sauce was light, tangy and very flavorful. I dipped tempura vegetables in it, they were excellent. Thank you for sharing Pammys recipe. Made for CQ3 - Japan.

We loved this sauce! The combination of flavors were delicious and the orange zest really adds some zing. I used sake but still skipped the sugar. Made for CQ 3
