"Far too many times I have had my pie or tart filling made, the shells prepared all ready to go, only to have to back track and dig through my recipe book for the baking time. Found an easy solution, printed a guide which I keep in my recipe drawer close at hand, ready to go. Works for me, hope others find this baking chart as handy as I do. Here are some average baking times."

Original is 6 servings

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Double Crust Pies, bake 450 10 minutes, reduce to 350 bake another 20 - 30 minutes or until crust is nicely golden brown

Step 2

Single Crust, prick sides and bottom of crust, bake 400 degree oven 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown. Some prefer to bake the shells at 425 or 450, watch closely and remove when nicely browned

Step 3

Tart Shells, prick sides and bottom with a tiny fork, bake in a 425 degree oven about 10 - 12 minutes or until a nice golden brown

Step 4

Ovens vary so choose the temperatures for your oven when baking, be sure to remove as soon as your pies and tarts are a nice golden brown

I printed this out to hang on the inside of my cupboard for pie making time. I love having easy access to it when I am making pies!
