"A friend of mine brought this to a work potluck and it was out of this world good where I just had to have the recipe. The convenience of it is superbly easy and the results taste like you've spent hours. I've made from scratch peach cobblers in the past that were also very good but I have to admit that they didn't compare in taste to this easier convenience version."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step 2

Pour canned peaches into a 9x13-inch or 17.25x10.75-inch casserole dish (pyrex) (refer to note below). Make sure juices cover peaches , if not add a small amount of water to just cover fruit. Distribute 1/2 cup of the sugar and cinnamon to taste over peaches, carefully mixing it through.

Step 3

Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over top of peach mixture. Poke holes into cake mix to allow juices to come through some parts. Cut stick of butter into small pats, placing them randomly over the top. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and a light dusting of the remaining cinnamon.

Step 4

Bake in preheated oven for 55 up 75 minutes, or until the juice mixture is bubbly and the top of the cake mix topping is crusty and golden brown. The timing of the oven depends on your oven and note that the goal it so have the top not soggy but firmish and crunchy. Like most recipes, if under cooking it will not achieve it's end result purpose.

NOTE: Additionally when I've had fresh peaches (or nectarines) on hand I've added them to the canned peaches (about 2-3) which makes for a more voluminous and fresher result. But if you don't have fresh peaches on hand, no worries, resume as written

Following the recipe was easy, except that I didn't have enough butter to completely cover the top of the cobbler. I figured it would all blend in during baking but it didn't, resulting in powdery cake mix that was dry on the top of my cobbler. I also found it to be too sweet eating it by itself so I added some ice cream to the top to remedy that situation. If I made this again I would use more peaches, and a little more butter and cut way back on the sugar.

This was made on 7/9/17 for the " Alphabet Soup " & " Billboard Recipe " tag games. To make easier clean up,a cooking spray was used on the pan.A few changes were made to the recipe, and they are as follows. I couldn't find the correct size of the cake mix,so a 15 ounce box was used. After pouring in the peaches it didn't seem like it would be enough so I added a smaller can. The amount of sugar that was added to the peaches was 1/4 cup. Except for using just 1/4 cup sugar,Step 3 was followed exactly as written. After checking the cobbler half way through the baking time,it didn't look like the cake mix was getting enough moisture. So I took a mixing spoon and pushed it into the peach mixture and continued to bake for another 30 minutes ( I think it was because of the extra amount of peaches and syrup). My SO and I thought it was pretty good. Thanks for posting and, " Keep Smiling :)
