"Sometimes simple is tastes best. The trick to these is to not overladen them, that way they broil properly and are easy to eat at a buffet party. Watch these carefully under the broiler carefully. They can go from just right to burnt in a flash."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Slice baguette into 1/2" slices on an angle so you get a larger surface.
Step 2
Pour olive oil into a small cereal bowl. Dip each slice into olive oil and place on baking sheet. Sprinkle a tiny amount of kosher salt over slices, holding hand very high.
Step 3
Dice tomatoes into 1/4" pieces, removing seeds. Sprinkle tomato on slices, no more than 4-5 pieces per slice. Mince basil and put a few pieces on each slice.
Step 4
Dust with shredded parmesan, if desired. Just before serving, broil for just a minute or two, no more. Serve warm.
