"Much better then plain old mashed potatoes. I have at times replaced the turnip with parsnips or carrots. You can add a bit of milk to this while mashing if you like a creamier texture."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Bring potatoes and turnip to a boil in salted water; toss in bay leaf and oregano.

Step 2

Cook until tender, about 20 minutes on high heat.

Step 3

Drain and remove bay leaf.

Step 4

Add butter and sour cream and mash.

Step 5

Season with pepper.

love mashed potatoes with turnip and the oregano is one of my favourite seasonings so i knew we would love it. I only had half a small turnip left but it was enough to get the flavour.  Rather than add any milk i added an extra tablespoon of no fat sour cream.  Perfect side with our Short ribs, the olf fashioned way, mmm delicious with the short rib gravy!!  I'll be making these again thanks!
