Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Grease 12 muffin cups.

Beat egg and add buttermilk, brown sugar, and shortening.

Mix in remaining ingredients and stir gently, just until flour is moistened. Batter will be lumpy.

Step 5

Fill muffin cups 2/3 full and bake 20 -25 min or until light brown.
