Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large skillet, combine balsamic vinegar and water. Place bratwurst in the water; cover, and simmer 10 minutes. Be sure the water is only simmering, NOT boiling.

Step 2

Add the sliced onions and continue simmering, uncovered, until the water evaporates and the onion is caramelized.

5 star all the way. We loved this recipe. I used well aged balsamic. It added a very rich mellow flavour to the sausages. The sausages turned almost black from the balsamic. I cut the recipe in half and cut back a bit on the water/balsamic mixture. It was just right. I cooked the onions slowly so it took about 20 minutes for all the water to cook away. This is a do again and again recipe
