Step by Step Method

Step 1

Cook potato in 2 cups water with pinch of salt until tender, but do not drain.

Step 2

In a small pan, saute onion in butter until tender; add flour, cayenne, and celery seed; stir well.

Step 3

Drain juice from clams into potatoes and reserve clams for later.

Step 4

Add parsley and milk to potatoes, and stir well.

Step 5

Heat potato mixture, and add onion/flour mixture, stirring constantly until thickened slightly.

Step 6

Stir in clams; and season to taste with salt and pepper.

Step 7

Cook for 5-10 minutes more or until heated through.

I made a half batch for hubby and I and we both loved this. It is so quick and easy to put together. Hubby requested I make a double batch to bring to the hunt camp this weekend. I'm sure the hunters will all love coming in from the cold to this wonderful chowder!

The hubby loved this...he said it was better then Ivars...I'm on the fence about that...but this sure was darn good...I really thought the evaporated milk was a nice change...this was very easy to prepare...made for Best of 2014 tag game...
