"Much cheaper and less expensive that those little bottles at the store. Plan ahead this must be made at least 1 day ahead to allow the flavors to blend and intensify, more time up to 5 days in the fridge is even better, do not use this the same day it's made, also this needs about 1 1/2 hours simmering time on top of the stove. This goes with my #recipe24884"

  • When selecting your tomato sauce, make sure to use Hunt's brand for the best flavor.
  • Add cayenne pepper to taste to adjust the spiciness of the sauce.

  • Substitute olive oil for margarine - Olive oil is a healthier option than margarine and adds a richer flavor to the sauce.
  • Substitute beef broth for chicken broth - Beef broth will give the sauce a deeper and more complex flavor profile.

Vegetarian Taco Sauce Replace the chicken broth with vegetable broth and substitute the margarine with a vegetable-based alternative. Omit the cayenne pepper if desired.
