Kittencal's Chinese Lemon Ginger Sauce/Glaze (Fat-Free)
"Use this sauce for whatever you want, it makes a great sauce to use with deep-fried chicken or pork balls, this is a sweet and tangy sauce but not too sweet, you can always add in more brown sugar if you prefer a sweeter taste "
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (I use the juice of 1 fresh lemon plus bottled lemon juice to make 1/2 cup)
- 6 tablespoons packed brown sugar (more for a sweeter sauce)
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoon liquid honey
- 2 teaspoons chicken bouillion granules (or you can use 1 small envelope OXO bouillion powder, whatever you have in your pantry)
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- Yellow food coloring, optional
What You Will Need
No special items needed.
Step 1
In a medium saucepan mix all ingredients together until blended; bring to a simmer over medium-high heat whisking vigorously and continuously until bubbly and thickened (about 3 minutes). Add more brown sugar if needed.
