Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375° F.

Step 2

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg and cloves. Set aside.

Step 3

Beat butter, sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy.

Step 4

Stir in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.

Step 5

Fold in berries.

Step 6

Pour into greased muffin tins.

Step 7

Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 8

Combine sugar and orange rind.

Step 9

Dip tops of warm muffins in melted butter, then in sugar mixture.
