"A KC favorite!! Serve this hot out of the oven, the ground beef may be made in advance then refrigerated, warm in the microwave before using for this recipe. Variation; for taco flavor, stir in 2 packages taco seasoning mix into the ground beef, top with Picante sauce before adding on the chopped tomatoes, bake as directed --- Delicious!"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a skillet cook the ground beef with onion until browned (about 10-12 minutes). Add in garlic and chili flakes; cook 2 minutes. Drain fat.Remove meat mixture from heat; stir in sour cream. Season with seasoned salt and pepper to taste.
Step 2
Cut bread lengthwise in half; butter both halves (using the butter/garlic mixture) then place on baking sheets. Bake in a 350 degree F oven butter side up for about 5-7 minutes.
Step 3
After baking remove from oven and spoon/divide the beef mixture onto each top of bread slice. Sprinkle with tomatoes, green pepper and cheddar cheese (using as much as you want to use for these).
Step 4
Bake the complete sandwich for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted (bake longer for crispier bread). Delicious!
