"My son LOVED this pizza; and so did his friends. I made mini pizzas; so they were great snacks, or served for lunch. But, also, I could make it a bit bigger for dinner. They are extremely easy and quick to prepare. I make them 2 ways - one, with a ketchup base, and one with a mustard base. It just depends on which they like better ... ketchup or mustard. And for kids who aren't afraid of a few onions or relish; they are great to also add. And for the crust ... use what you are comfortable with. Make your own if you want; but, a pre-made dough or crust like Boboli or something similar works just as well."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Note: The toppings are based on 4 small pizzas; if making larger pizzas, you will to add more toppings.

Step 2

Crust ... Now, as I mentioned. You can use a pre-made crust; but, I really prefer a fresh crust for this recipe. You can make your own; or you can use a canned pizza crust like Pillsbury, or other brands; or a frozen crust. When making my own, I do like this to be a bit thicker crust ... NOT too thin of a crust.

Step 3

Brush the pizza with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. You don't want anything to heavy - go very lightly with both the oil and seasoning.

Step 4

Sauce and Cheese ... Add either the ketchup or dijon mustard and spread over the crust - just like a pizza sauce. Just remember, it is a light coating of sauce. Then, top with 1/4 cup of the provolone cheese.

Step 5

Hot Dogs ... I cook mine first, because the pizza does not take long to cook. I use a saute pan with just a little water so they steam lightly. But use any method you like. Just 3-4 minutes is all they take. Then, cut the dog in rounds.

Step 6

Pizza ... Add the hot dog slices to the pizza on top of the mustard and cheese; then top with the sharp cheddar cheese. And, if you want; add the minced onions and pickle relish on top of the cheese. They are optional, but really good. My son loved it, but NOT all kids like onions or relish.

Step 7

Bake ... I use a pizza stone, but a pizza pan or baking sheet works fine. These also work great on the grill. Just follow pkg directions for baking the pizza dough/crust which will differ depending on what type of crust you are making.

Step 8

Serve ...Just slice and ENJOY! But, don't forget to get the kids involved.
