Here's The Skinny ~ Asian Glazed Drumsticks

"These Asian inspired drumsticks are finger lickin' good! The glaze would be great with thighs or wings too. Chicken breast would get too tough. It's hard to believe this recipe is low in points. Serve with steamed vegetables to make this a complete low fat meal, and drizzle the remaining glaze over the vegetables. It's also wonderful over rice. Sriracha hot sauce (the one with the rooster on the bottle)is a spicy Thai chili sauce and is available in many stores including Walmart, but you can also buy it online. You can find it in the International isle in many grocery stores, or at your local Asian market. Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a heavy large saucepan, spray pan with a little oil, and brown chicken on high for 3-4 minutes.

Step 2

Add water, balsamic, soy sauce, Agave, garlic, ginger, hot sauce and cook on high until liquid comes to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered for about 20 minutes.

Step 3

Remove cover and bring heat to high, allowing sauce to reduce down, about 8-10 minutes, until it becomes a thick glaze, turning chicken occasionally. (Keep an eye on glaze, you don't want it to burn when it start becoming thick).

Step 4

Transfer chicken to a platter, and pour glaze on top.

Step 5

Top with chives and sesame seeds and serve.

These are very well flavored chicken thighs. We had them with tofu noodles. Very good!

I cut everything in half to accommodate 4 thighs I had leftover in my fridge. The sauce and chicken were so appetizing that I ate them all in one sitting! I don't know how skinny that is for me lol but I couldn't stop myself. The thighs went so well with some fresh steamed jasmine rice and a Thai salad. It made for a splendid dinner!

Quick! I put the jasmine rice in the rice cooker and the delicious chicken and rice were finished at the same time. With frozen veggies this was an wonderful weeknight meal without much effort. I didn't have the Thai chili sauce so put in a bit of Tabasco. So nice to have an Asian inspired dish made at home. Thanks Linda!

I halved the sauce recipe as i was onlynusing four chicken thighs. I did have to use a mixture od cornstarch and water to thicken the sauce and the flavour was amazing. A keeper recipe! Made for the Billboard Recipe Tag Game.
