"One of mom's old recipes, it's really good. Fresh, ripe strawberries are a must, in fact, this is a good way to use up berries that are past their prime. Mom would thaw this just a bit before serving, but I always let my piece thaw almost all the way before eating."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat pan to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 pyrex dish with butter. Stir together crumb ingredients and spread in prepared dish, bake 20 minutes.

Step 2

In small mixer bowl, beat egg whites, gradually add sugar until stiff peaks form.

Step 3

Stir in sliced strawberries and lemon juice until mixture turns pink. Fold in whipped cream.

Step 4

Sprinkle 2/3 of crumbs in pyrex. Spoon strawberry mixture over crumbs. Sprinkle remaining crumbs on top. Freeze.

Step 5

To serve, thaw just a little so it's easier to cut.
