I subbed splenda for the sugar and otherwise made the same. They are delicious and so tender and fluffy!.
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon chopped yellow onion
- 4 cups turnips (yellow turnips cooked and mashed)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper (to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
- 2 large eggs (separated)
What You Will Need
No special items needed.
Preheat oven to 350.
Over medium heat melt butter in a large saucepan, saute onion, add mashed turnips, salt, pepper, sugar and paprika, mix well.
Beat egg yolks and add to mixture, remove from heat.
Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry, fold into turnip mixture.
Place in a greased 8 inch pie plate and bake in moderate 350 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
