Flavored Apple Sauce

- 1 pound apples (4 medium cooking apples, Granny Smiths, greenings)
- 1/2 cup water
- Orange rind (1/2 grated, alterative: lemon juice)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Nutmeg, dash of
- Ground allspice, dash of
What You Will Need
No special items needed.
Peel, core, and slice apples into a saucepan.
Add water and the orange rind (or lemon juice).
Simmer covered until tender--about 8 minutes.
Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice and mash with a fork or potato masher.
Serve warm or chilled.
