The original recipe author is named TeresaS The recipe description reads "These shrimp certainly have some fire, but if you really like them spicy, adjust the cayenne pepper according to your taste. This is from a cookbook called "The Backyard Barbecue Cookbook"" And she is right, these shrimp do have fire to them!!"

Editorial Notes

The ingredient tips, suggestions, variations, facts, questions and answers below are not edits to the original author's recipe. They are not meant to imply any change would improve the recipe. They're offered for convenience, alternative ideas, and points of interest. If you have any comments about them, please post in the Help & Ideas forum.

  • When selecting shrimp, look for large, fresh shrimp for the best results.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper according to your taste for spiciness.

  • Substitute olive oil for coconut oil. Coconut oil has a higher smoke point and is a healthier alternative to olive oil. It also adds a subtle sweetness to the shrimp that complements the spices.
  • Substitute chili pepper flakes for cayenne pepper. Chili pepper flakes are milder than cayenne pepper and provide a milder, more subtle heat that won't overpower the other flavors.

Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Substitute the dry spice mixture with 1 tablespoon of lemon pepper seasoning, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of dried parsley. Grill the shrimp for 4 minutes per side or until pink and tender.

Grilled Corn on the Cob - Grilled corn on the cob is the perfect side dish to accompany the Firecracker Shrimp. The sweet, smoky flavor of the corn complements the spicy shrimp, and the texture of the grilled corn adds a delightful crunch. Plus, it's a quick and easy dish that can be cooked on the same grill as the shrimp.

Grilled Potato Wedges: Grilled potato wedges are a great accompaniment to the Firecracker Shrimp. The potatoes have a crispy exterior and a soft, creamy interior that pairs well with the spicy shrimp. Plus, they can be cooked on the same grill as the shrimp, making them an easy and delicious side dish.
