"My friend and co-moderator, Ralf_Kramden, was a far better cook than I'll ever be. This is his recipe in its entirety, and as you can see from the options listed you can adapt it to whatever suits your fancy at the moment. I've not made regular plain chocolate chip cookies since he gave me this recipe...they seem too boring now."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.

Step 2

In a large bowl, beat together butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs (adding eggs one at a time and beating well between each). Gradually beat in flour mixture.

Step 3

Stir in the rest of the ingredients by hand.

Step 4

Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.

Step 5

Bake at 375F for 10 minutes. Let stand on pans for 2 minutes, then remove to a cooling rack.

I made them with peanut butter chips. I don't care for butterscotch. They are delicious and my son loves them!
