"Sometimes you want that deep Southern flavor that you can only get from fresh green beans cooked with bacon, but you really don't have time to cook them from scratch.Well several years ago my sister Flora, taught me a way to make canned green beans taste pretty close to what you might've been cooking from fresh all day long. Since I didn't list any salt or pepper to the recipe, that's going to be strictly up to you. This recipe is easily doubled, but I suggest only three pieces of bacon.Submitted to " ZAZZ "on 9/13/13. These remind me of the green beans my granny used to make, but without all the time and work. I'll be filing this one away to use again and again.

I am sorry to say this didn't work well for me. My green beans were soaking in grease, and using the canned green beans was a mistake. Fresh is always better. I don't think I will make this again.

Just like we used to have when I was a kid. I used French cut canned beans. Turned out delicious.

I made these using frozen whole green beans. Delicious! Had them with a ham steak cooked on the grill and sweet potatoes with cinnamon butter. A true Southern experience!

As others have said, this is a great way to jazz up canned beans. Will definitely make these again. Thanks for sharing. Made for Culinary Quest 2014.
