Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375F. Grease or butter a 9 inch baking pan. Line pan with 2 sheets of foil, crisscrossed, leaving an overhang on each side of pan. Butter foil.

Step 2

Combine cracker crumbs, salt, and baking powder.

Step 3

Add dates and walnuts.

Step 4

Beat eggs well and gradually add sugar.

Step 5

Beat the egg mixture into the cracker mixture.

Step 6

Pour into prepared pan and bake 20-25 minutes.

Step 7

Lift out of pan using foil overhangs. Peel foil from bottom and cut bars into 6 rows lengthwise and crosswise.

Step 8

Toss in powdered sugar to dust them.

I love dates and nuts so this caught my eye. I made them up ahead of time so I could try them first before putting them on my cookie platters. They definitely passed the taste test and I will be making more for my platters later this week.
