Step by Step Method
TO MAKE THE DOUGH
Step 1
Dissolve the yeast 1/4 cup water and set aside.
Step 2
Combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mix.
Step 3
Pour the yeast mix and remaining water and oil into the well. Mix with a woode spoon until dough rolls into a ball.
Step 4
Turn the dough out onto a floured board. Knead dough 7 to 8 minutes until smooth and satiny.
Step 5
Place dough in a large bowl dusted with flour.
Step 6
Cover and let rise for 90 minutes or until doubled in size.
Step 7
After dough has risen, punch down and stretch into a 16 inch circle, this is a thin crust.
Step 8
Place dough in a flat 16 inch pizza pan.
Step 9
Cover and let rise for 45 minutes.
TO MAKE THE SAUCE
Step 10
Combine all sauce ingredients in a 2 quart saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Strain out cloves.
Step 11
Let sauce cool to room temperature.
Step 12
Sauce can be made up to two days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
TO ASSEMBLE THE PIZZA
Step 13
Heat oven to 500 degrees F.
Step 14
Spread 2/3 cup of the sauce over the dough.
Step 15
Mix the cheeses and sprinkle them over the sauce.
Step 16
Bake pizza in oven for 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.
Step 17
Remove from oven and spread barbecued meat over the cheese.
Step 18
Warm the remaining sauce and spread over the meat.
