  • Make sure to use freshly grated cheddar cheese for the best flavor.
  • For the green onion, use the whole onion including the white and green parts.

  • Replace the all-purpose flour with oat flour for a gluten-free option. This substitution will make the waffles more nutritious since oat flour is a good source of dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Replace the canola oil with melted coconut oil for a vegan option. This substitution will make the waffles dairy-free and will give them a subtle coconut flavor.

Spinach & Feta Waffles Replace the cheddar cheese and green onion with 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese and 1/2 cup cooked spinach. Omit the sugar and add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder to the dry ingredients.

Bacon & Avocado Salad - This light and fresh salad is the perfect accompaniment to the savory cheddar and green onion waffles. The crunchy bacon and creamy avocado add texture and flavor that will perfectly complement the waffles.

Sweet Potato Fries - These crispy and salty sweet potato fries are the perfect complement to the savory waffles. The sweet and salty flavor will balance out the cheddar and green onion, while the crunchy texture adds another layer of texture to the meal. Plus, they are easy to make and will be sure to please everyone.

OH MY YUM!! This was simple and perfect for chicken & waffles! I did replace the canola oil with avocado oil (I think canola has a nasty after-taste), but this recipe is fantastic! Will definitely make again!
