Cajun Smothered Green Beans
"I found this yummy recipe on the Art + Food + Life blog. My husband said he didn't have high hopes because they didn't look very appetizing, but he changed his mind in a hurry when he tasted them. Very yummy and very easy to get bubbling away on the back of the stove while you are getting the main course ready."

Cook Time: 35mPT35M
- 4 ounces bacon (4 slices, chopped)
- 1 yellow onion, diced (use whatever size you want!)
- 2 cans (14 1/2 ounce) green beans (2 regular sized cans, drained)
- 2 to 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Tony Chachere's seasoning, plus more to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter
What You Will Need
No special items needed.
In a nonstick skillet, saute bacon over medium heat until just browned.
Using a paper towel, wipe up all the extra grease.
Add onions to the pan and saute until soft and golden brown.
Add the beans and enough broth to cover the beans.
Season with a tablespoon of Tony Chachere’s.
Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Uncover and let simmer until almost all the liquid has cooked off (about 15 minutes.)
Add butter to the pan and taste for seasonings. If it seems salty enough, do not add more Tony’s. If it is not salty enough, add more Tony’s.
