  • For the bread, choose a slightly stale loaf of French or Italian bread for the best texture.
  • For the chocolate, use semisweet chocolate for a rich and decadent flavor.

  • Instead of semisweet chocolate, use dark chocolate. This will make the dish richer and more decadent.
  • Instead of evaporated milk, use almond milk. This will make the dish lighter and more suitable for those who are lactose intolerant.

Chocolate Chip French Toast Replace the semisweet chocolate with 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the bread slices before pouring in the egg mixture.

Very good! I used 85% dark chocolate with great results. We loved it with maple syrup drizzled over the top. We had tangerine slices on the side. Yummy!

We loved these for breakfast, but they are more like dessert. I served them with strawberry sauce over the top. They are so good either way!
