Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine tamari, rice vinegar, sriracha and sesame oil in a small bowl; set aside.

Step 2

Cook bacon pieces in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Using the bacon fat as the cooking oil, add onions, garlic and five spice powder; stir fry until translucent, about 2 minutes. Stir in carrots and broccoli and cook until brightly colored and just beginning to soften, about 3 minutes.

Step 4

Add canned corn and rice, breaking up rice with a spatula. Cook until heated through, about 2 minutes.

Step 5

Toss in green onions and reserved sauce; toss to incorporate.

Step 6

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately.

The biggest surprise was how much the hubby enjoyed this fried rice...we didn't even miss the scrambled egg that is in most of them...we loved the flavors in this dish...I did cut the recipe down to 1 serving and it was plenty for the two of us...I served it with a nice ginger fish and bok choy...made for your week #10 football win...

I doubled everything but used an Asian chili sauce for the hot sauce and used frozen corn. We served the fried rice with egg rolls and grapes for a fun meal. Very good, however next time I will buy the right hot sauce. Thanks for sharing!
