- 1 pound apples (4 apples, Gala, Granny Smith, Rome, and Fuji, for example, preferably of varied colors)
- 4 cups water
- Brown sugar, pinch of (optional)
- Cinnamon, pinch of (optional)
- Raisins, to taste (optional)

Drain and mash into a chunky consistency.
