"My friend makes these; and, they was nice enough to share the recipe. So simple; yet, a delicious dessert. Finish with a scoop of ice cream or your favorite whipped topping. A quick dessert; and, perfect for kids and adults. I like to use apples and pears; but, bananas are also delicious. And, to make this more 'adult,' try adding a little bourbon or rum to your fruit tilling."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Apples and Pears ... Saute the apples and pears in a little butter, on medium heat - just until slightly tender. Add just enough butter so the fruit does not burn. You want the slices to be tender; but, slightly crisp (about 7-10 minutes). The last few minutes, add either the bourbon or rum; and, light the fruit using a long lighter. This will help burn off the 'harsh' alcohol flavor. Let it simmer just a few minutes. Then, transfer the fruit to a bowl while you prepare the quesadillas. Simply omit the alcohol for the 'kid friendly' version. You could always add the alcohol to the whipped topping if you wanted to.

Step 2

Quesadilla ... I use 1 tortilla and fold them in half; rather than using 2 tortillas. I find, that they are much easier to flip.

Step 3

Spread the entire tortilla with the Nutella spread, about 1/2" from the edge; and top with the nuts - press them in a bit, so they stick to the spread. Then, add the cooked apple and pear slices on 1/2 of the tortilla. Remember, we are folding it over. Take a few minutes and line up the slices, or fan them out. One, it looks pretty; but, it also makes it easier to eat. Fold over the tortilla - it's ready to grill.

Step 4

Grill ... I like to use an inside flat grill pan; or, you can use a nonstick saute pan too. Spray the pan with a non stick spray, and bring to medium heat. Add the tortillas and grill or cook until golden brown on each side. They only take a couple of minutes per side.

Step 5

Finish and Serve ... I like ice cream; but, whipped topping is also another nice way to finish this dessert. And, if you didn't add the alcohol in the fruit filling; add a little to your whipped topping. ENJOY!

Step 6

Note ... You can use all apples or pears if you want; I like the mix. Also, use any nuts you want. And, bananas are also really good in this as well.
