"I made these cookies using ingredients which were readily available where I live and in my cupboard. We enjoyed the cookies and they worked out well with my modifications. Recipe make 2-3 dozen cookies, depending on how big you make them."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Cover baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 3

In a large bowl whisk dry ingredients together (oatmeal - sugar). Set aside.

Step 4

In a large measuring cup or bowl combine boiling water and baking soda. Set aside.

Step 5

In a saucepan over medium heat melt butter and syrup together. Stir into the water mixture.

Step 6

Stir wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

Step 7

Drop dough by spoonfuls onto baking sheets.

Step 8

Bake for 15-20 minutes.
