No Oven - Help!

Post by Axe » Mon Mar 10, 2014 11:08 am

We are STILL renovating the kitchen. Seems to be never ending.

I have no functional oven and I need to make a lasagna. Is it possible to do it in a Dutch Oven on the stove?

Worst case scenario, I would have to do it in small batches in my toaster oven I guess.

I also have an electric roaster. Could I put it in there?

Now that I'm thinking about it.... what are the chances of using my normal recipe but putting it in a slow cooker?

Do any of these options sound workable?

I have used a toaster oven before, big one. But, I have made lasagna rolls ups.

Same noodles, sauce, cheese etc; but make in small pan and individual rolls. then, Bake in the microwave and finish in the toaster oven to make a nice crust.

I know some use the crock pot; never have.
I used a recipe right from the crock pot book; but, it wasn't too much different than my regular recipe.

I wish I could be more help.
On another site #21706 is the only slow cooker recipe I have made. from f.* And, it isn't bad.

There is a recipe for crock pot lasagna posted here that has good reviews. I've never made it, but it's worth a shot. #recipe1062

You've never made one in the crock pot, but you used a recipe from the crock pot book? And also made one from F.com? I'm confused.

Huh. Turns out the recipe I linked to here is Derf's, as is the one Kim posted from F.com.

Doesn't your woodstove have an oven? Use that.
I have made it in a dutch oven at camp but not on stove top, need to have that top heat as well.

I can't. The cookstove oven door is broken and I'm waiting for spring to fix it when we're not using the stove.

I meant stove top not crock pot. Just a typo. Missed it. He asked about stove top too. I tried the crock pot.
Didn't catch my error, sorry.

I did an advanced search on here and NO crock pot lasagna. I guess a few glitches still. I wanted to share one from here first, but couldn't find one.

I skipped the advanced search entirely and typed "crock pot lasagna" in the search box. One recipe came up.

I like the sound of your electric roaster. How about ifyou place thelasagna in a foil container, cover with foil and bake in the roaster????? Not knowing what your electric roaster is like that may or not be a good idea
