question about manicotti shells

Post by cagey » Mon Jan 16, 2017 8:27 pm

Can someone help me please? I have dry manicotti shells with an expiry date of Oct. 14, 2016 would they still be okay to use or should I toss them?
Thanks

I don't think you should have a problem.
Just in case boil one and try it.

If dried pasta is stored in a cool, dry place either in its original packaging or in an airtight container, it should be good for a few years. The expiration date on a box of pasta is usually about one to two years, and although expiration dates tend to be conservative, it's best to follow them.Mar 6, 2016
From online ...

Me, I know I have used pasta that has been sitting in my pantry. If there are no bugs in the box; I would use them.

Don't toss it, I've used dry pasta long after the expiry date.

I have never had dry pasta go bad just because of how old.
The only thing I would make sure of is if any tobacco beetles or those tiny moths got into it over time. That rarely happens but it's good to check.
And it doesn't necessarily mean your house has those. One time I opened a can of sesame seeds from Kroger (back when they put them in metal cans) and some kind of little bug had hatched out inside there from the factory.
