Carbon Monoxide Scare

Post by lovinretirement » Thu May 19, 2016 5:06 pm

My aunt called me this morning saying she was hearing beeping in her basement. I thought it might be her smoke detector battery going dead. When I got there, I went down to the basement and it was her carbon monoxide detector going off and the reading was 38! I took her and her kitty outside and called 911. They came right out and found out it was her hot water heater vent was clogged. So they turned her water heater off, until her plumber could come out and got her house "all clear". I thank the Good Lord that she could hear the beeping, because she is very hard of hearing, and that she thought to call me.
Please people, if you don't have carbon monoxide detectors, get them for every floor or your house and make sure they are working. They only last about 5 years, and they should be replaced. It could very well save a life.
