My Sole Baking Effort

Post by Bergy » Wed Dec 17, 2014 8:22 pm

For those of you that do pies, tarts, cookies etc will be shocked at my lone effort! I was never what you would call a baker but I had my 6 favorite cookies and tarts that I would make at Christmas two were traditional Danish -
Danish Aristocrats (#2274) & Brun Cookies not posted yet.
I am now down to making Mince tarts with - BOUGHT tart shells, BOUGHT mincemeat (Laced at home with spiced rum) 5 minutes filling the shells, 2 minutes to top with a cherry and 20 minutes in the oven.
I now buy others home baking - shortbread, etc etc

Those look really nice!
And there is something to be said for treating yourself to something someone else has made, especially around the holidays. :)
We just bought a beautiful stollen stuffed with marzipan. I just have too many things to do this next week to add it to the roster! LOL Usually the packaged ones aren't very fresh, being imported, but this one was local so nice and soft still.
What else did you get besides shortbread? Any pierogies lately?

I'm with you B, I don't bake either. I did make my rum balls; and, an occasional cake, but that's it.

They look wonderful!

You're making my mouth water, Bergy. I love mincemeat pie, but my husband hates it. So I haven't made it for decades. I used to make a Pumpkin Mincemeat Pie I used to take to family holiday dinners. http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/pumpki ... t-pie-6930. No more family holiday dinners though (everyone either gone or scattered). Just the two of us. But I have a lot of fond memories.

Thanks all for your comments.

Love your Pumpkin mincemeat pie sounds Mmmm. I have a light fruit cake, an assortment ofcookies some chocolate covered, Also some rolled sammies. Of course I have 4 different hot appetizers. Everything is either in tins or frozer so we won't be eating it all at once.

Bergy - I have ALL the ingredients! I'll probably do those minus the cherry...
