No they have their own flavour but I love them though the DH is not so crazy about them so I have them when he is on night shift and they make a cheap meal at $6 to $7 a kilogram, I usually buy about 1 1/4 kilogram and then any that don't close when debearding or are broken or don't open when cooked get discarded and usually end up with a kilogram of mussels though don't know the weight of the meat.

I am another mussels fan; and, that looks so good.
If you haven't had mussels; they, are definitely worth a try.
