Substiuting Dried cherries for Maraschino?

Post by 1Steve » Fri Dec 19, 2014 12:58 pm

I found this brownie recipe that calls for chopped Bourbon soaked Maraschino cherries. I have some Bourbon soaked dried cherries on hand. Would those work instead? I'm thinking since they are just raisin size, I wouldn't even need to chop them. :?:

If you macerate the dried cherries on warm liquid for awhile, they are going to soften up. I have macerated raisins before to make them very plump for baking. I can't really say how long without seeing the cherries you have, but I suspect you will know when.
It's kind of like soaking dried mushrooms or tree ear fungus for Chinese food. They soften considerably.
