What WAS on Your Plate & WHAT'S for Dinner 8/31-9/1

IT'S HUMP DAY ... WE ARE HALF WAY THERE!

A soon to be tropical storm in the Gulf, so rainy, windy, cloudy and just soggy. Sounds like a soup night.

Today ...
Lady #1 and #3:http://www.recipezazz.com/…/walnut-crus ... n-with-war…; mashed sweet potatoes; sauteed spinach w/bacon and onions

Me: A ham, bean, potato, and kale soup (freezer stash), 3 cheese quesadilla for dipping; watermelon. Quick and easy. Good on a rainy day.

So, anyone have any good dinner plans?

Tonight I fried some turkey ham slices, herb potatoes (like parsley potatoes, but with finely chopped rosemary instead), and fresh-picked sliced carrots in an orange-dijon-cumin-cayenne-butter sauce with raisins and chopped pecans. Oh, and homemade applesauce.

Oh, I want to come. I love those carrots; they sound wonderful! Do you every freeze your apple sauce. I usually make a bit batch and freeze in small mason jars. It freezes great. I usually make it with out cinnamon, just rustic, even skins on. Then, when ready to serve; I can add cinnamon or not. I was surprised how good it freezes.

Caroll, Pizza is always a good choice ... besides, who doesn't like pizza?

Just plain old baked chicken tonight, nothing fancy, served with frozen peas and a small salad

I made some perogies it took me all afternoon to make them  we had them for dinner tonight with onions and sour cream, I suck at making them and their too much work but homemade is better

CheffJ, thank you. Nothing much; but, a relaxing day. Chicken and chicken tonight; always a good go to; and peas ... OH, one of my favorites.
Cagey, Perogies, OMG, that is an all time favorite; especially with sour cream and onions.

I admit, I have only made them once. I have a local polish deli, who makes them fresh; and, I break down and get them from them. Kudos for making them.
Potato/cheese, kraut; and, believe it or NOT, prune are my favorites.
My problem is; I always eat way too many when I make them.

IT'S THURSDAY ... AND A VERY RAINY SOGGY DAY IN FLORIDA!
Best wishes to those in the panhandle of FL, and those in the path of Tropical Storm Hermine, possible Hurricane Hermine.

Well, I have a beautiful head of cauliflower; and, want to make a new soup ... Tuscan cauliflower - broth based with potatoes, Italian sausage, tomatoes, etc; but, not sure if I have everything on hand.

Dinner, I feel like a salad tonight. I took a chicken quarter out; so, I may bake that and use that either as chicken salad; or, make some kind of chopped classic salad w/egg, bacon, tomato, cucumber, etc.

What's happening in your kitchen?
