HAPPY SUNDAY!
Catering for me today; so, busy with that. My dinner - I'm picking up a variety of subway subs for me and my friends helping. We will just eat in between courses, or when we get a chance.
For anyone interested. Here is the menu. Classic Polish food for 32. Venue is a gazebo, right on the beach (like in the sand). And, it is formal.
SOUP: 20 borscht, 10 chicken
- Batrszcz, red beet Borscht soup; and, - Rozol, chicken broth soup w/noodles
APPETIZERS: Each table gets a platter of ...
- Mixed deli meats (includes cold and grilled sausages), pickled vegetables, kapusta kiszona - pickled cabbage, Śledź w oleju z cebulą - pickled herring (and, a sour cream version too ), cheese, rye bread and/or crackers; and, various condiments (horseradish cream, mustards; and, the brothers from Poland are bringing some local favorites). Laugenbrezel, soft mini pretzels (the Grandfathers favorite German appetizer, served with beer butter or mustard) - he was born and raised in Germany. And, grilled oscypek, sheeps milk cheese w/bacon and cranberry and apple
SALAD:
- salata z Boczkeim, wilted salad w/bacon (1 bowl served on each table)
- Mizeris, creamy cucumber salad (1 bowl served on each table)
- Salatka z jablek i porow, shredded apple leek salad (1 bowl served on each table)
MAIN DISH/SIDES: Buffet style
- Pierogies, 2 kinds (classic potato/sauerkraut, cheese), finished with sauteed onions, and sour cream
- Kotlet schabowy, pan sauteed breaded cutlet -but, using chicken
- Biogi, hunters stew (w/sausage, smoked ham; and, beef)
- Lazanki z kapustą i grzybami, pork with cabbage and noodles
- Poached Haddock w/creamy dill sauce
- Golabki, vegetable and pork stuffed cabbage rolls
- Placki ziemniaczane, savory fried potato pancakes w/applesauce
- Kopytka, potato dumplings
- Buraczki marynowane, pickled beets and onions
DESSERTS/DRINKS: A small platter of the desserts will be set on each table ...
- Polskie naleśniki, polish crepes (w/fruit)
- Mazurka, blueberry pastry
- Makowiec, poppyseed cake
- Piernik, ginger cake
- Coffee
Polish Beer, wine, and plenty of Vodka, each brother, aunt, uncle, mom and Dad are bringing their favorite local alcohol from poland; sodas, water, etc.

Hi 59; just checking in ... we have a little lull waiting for some of the things to arrive. My friends are picking them up.
Yes, 32; but, ALL small bites. NOT huge plates of everything. Also, they wanted leftovers. There are 60+ here in the party; so, the leftovers will be lunch tomorrow and the next day if any. Honestly; I don't forsee too much leftover.
Normally, someone would eat 3-4 stuffed cabbage rolls; tonight, it is just 1 per person - small bites for all. That was requested.
